Surviving Through Writing….

Write It Down! Make it Plain

Writing can be very therapeutic and healing. Whether it be a short story, a poem, a journal entry, or even just a short sentence or phrase, writing has a way of helping us express how our soul truly feels. Once a week I will be posting a short entry here. Does anyone else express themselves through writing? I want to hear from you! Use the form below to submit your short stories, poems, etc so that I can feature you on this page.

Entry of the Week:

1/28/19 To my sister, Marisa Savage

Written by Briana Lanee, April 20th 2019

We formed a life long bond about 15 years ago and we didn’t even know it. We were so young, how could I know then that you would end up meaning so much to me? At the time, you were just my best friend’s little sister. I remember you calling to ask to speak with me for Antonio and Markus cause I wasn’t allowed to talk to boys on the phone (even though Markus sounded like a little girl, honestly lol) I needed you then more than I even knew and I need you now. I need you to watch over your family and friends. I need you to be there in the mist of our darkest nights and our coldest days. I need to feel your warmth and your kindness. I need to feel your love. Because I’m struggling. We’re all struggling. We all love and miss you so much it hurts. But we gonna be strong 🧡

1/14/19 Keep on Smiling

by a 13 year old Briana Lanee

Keep on smiling little one,

Whatever should you frown about?

You are more amazing than you know,

There is no reason to doubt

Be strong and courageous even through

The hard and troubling times

Never let the cold, dark world

Take away your glow, your shine

Keep on smiling little one

So that every time I look to you

I will have the strength and courage

To let go of pain and smile too
